From humble beginnings with a single truck to becoming a benchmark in Spanish international transport, this family-run business celebrates three decades of dedication and steady growth.
Although LUIS TORTOSA TRANSPORTES S.L. was officially established in 1995, the story of this renowned international transport company goes much further back, rooted in the tireless vision of its founder, Luis Tortosa—a man who felt the call of the road long before the company was formally created.
Since 1980, Luis Tortosa gained experience working for major companies that remain in the industry’s collective memory, such as the legendary TRANSBOSCA and MARQUESET—with whom he even undertook risky routes to the Middle East during the Iran-Iraq conflict—as well as EXIT from Alcoy and TRASDONAT from Ontinyent. His entrepreneurial spirit led him in 1985 to join COOPERATIVA LOS VALLES, based in Quartell (Valencia).
A milestone in the company’s journey came in 1989 with the purchase of its first truck: a PEGASO TRONER V3809CP with a Leciñena semi-trailer. At this point, “LUIS TORTOSA” began operating as a sole proprietor, using international permits from the cooperative to launch European routes.
UNSTOPPABLE EXPANSION
The company’s growth continued in 1992 with the addition of a second truck, a RENAULT road train driven by the late Jose Luis Segura. This was followed by a third second-hand road train in 1993, driven by current workshop manager Boti; a fourth vehicle from BURISTIR in Burriana, driven by another veteran, Pinter; a fifth truck driven by the beloved Pilos; and a sixth road train purchased from the iconic NAVAMAR, owned by the late Arturo Navarro.
By 1995, the fleet had grown to 7 or 8 trucks. This was the moment the next generation took an active role, managing the growing business from a small home office. With this foundation and the ongoing purchase of new trucks, LUIS TORTOSA, S.L. was officially born.
As the fleet surpassed ten vehicles, growth stabilized at a steady rate of 3 or 4 trucks per year, many of them second-hand road trains from the prestigious French company Norbert Dentressangle. Luis Tortosa had the opportunity to personally meet Norbert Dentressangle at the RENAULT plant in Lyon, where the company’s fleet reached 2,000 trucks. It was also here that he formed a strong friendship with Raimond Chourri, head of Renault’s used truck division, who would notify Luis and Pilos when trucks from Norbert arrived—giving them early access to the best units.

From there, growth became unstoppable. The key to success was an exceptional team: experienced drivers, loyal customers, and companions who shared a passion for transport. With these solid foundations, the road to becoming a leader in Spanish international transport was clear.
Today, TRANSPORTES LUIS TORTOSA is an industry leader located in the Tibi Industrial Park, highly regarded by clients and the sector alike. Its modern facilities offer a wide range of services, supported by a fantastic team in every area: management, logistics, administration, workshop, warehouse, kitchen, and sales. “Thanks to them, we are who we are,” say the company’s directors, “and we continue moving forward with effort and enthusiasm.”
